What is Optikey?
Optikey is a free suite of Windows applications that allow you to communicate and use your computer using only your eyes. The Optikey app family offers communication apps, mouse control and full typing and computer control.
Optikey was written to challenge the outrageously expensive, unreliable and difficult to use AAC (alternative and augmentative communication) products on the market. It is, therefore, fully open-source and free. Forever.
Communication
Optikey Symbol allows someone to communicate using symbols instead of typing words. It uses symbols from the CommuniKate project, which is a socially focused page set designed exclusively for people who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Using an eye-tracker, a user can select symbols, build sentences and have the computer speak their prepared response. For more information see Optikey Symbol.

Optikey Chat is for literate users, who can type using either a full QWERTY keyboard layout (or equivalent keyboard layout in another language), or a simplified version with fewer keys if their eye gaze accuracy requires it*. The app provides predictive text functionality and will read out your responses. For more information see Optikey Chat.
*Simplified keyboards are not currently available in all languages

Mouse control
Optikey Mouse allows you to control a mouse cursor using eye gaze, including clicking, scrolling, dragging and zooming functionality. It provides a simple interface on your computer screen from which you can select the mouse operations you wish to perform. For more information see Optikey Mouse.

OptiKey Pro
OptiKey Pro is the most advanced app in the Optikey family. It provides full computer control, including mouse control, typing, speaking and lots of additional functionality. When typing Optikey Pro provides predictive text functionality and support for multiple languages. Optikey Pro can also be extended using plugins or dynamic keyboards (user defined keyboards). For more information see Optikey Pro.
